Chelsea 3-3 Everton Empty Chelsea 3-3 Everton

Post  Admin Fri Dec 18, 2009 1:09 pm

90+4 It's all over! Everton grab an unlikely draw at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea's run without a win continues as they fall victim to two bizarre goals but Everton did not just luck into a point today. The title race gets that little bit tighter!

90+3 Kieran Agard is on for Saha.

90+3 A loose ball falls for Ballack, who has a great chance on the edge of the area but sends his shot wide.

90+2 Chelsea coming forward but not much happening.

90 Four minutes of added time as Borini's shot is blocked well by Heitinga.

89 Drogba almost turns in an Ashley Cole cross but it's wide of the mark.

88 Young forward Fabio Borini is brought on for Mikel.

87 Everton break with Rodwell and Saha, but the former's shot is deflected safely into the arms of Cech.

85 Juliano Belletti is on for Carvalho.

84 Drogba gets a little too physical in the Everton area and is whistled for a foul.

82 Chelsea coming forward again but they haven't created a clear chance for a good while now.

80 Malouda crosses for Drogba, who is looking for a hat-trick but sends his header into the arms of Howard.

78 Anelka gets sandwiched by Hibbert and Neill. That looked painful but Anelka is straight up.

77 Drogba continues to cause problems as his cross almost finds its way into the net but Howard manges to tip it over.

75 Florent Malouda is on for Joe Cole.

74 Chelsea continue to come forward as Ivanovic deflects shot in the area. That could have gone anywhere.

72 Drogba is back on the pitch as Ballack forces Tim Howard to make a good save from a free-kick.

70 Drogba is down on the floor after battling with Heitinga. The Dutchman stood on his foot by accident and should Drogba be able to continue.

69 Ivanovic fires in a cross that Lampard can only get a glancing touch to and it's out for a goal-kick.

67 Joe Cole tries a volley from the edge of the area but it's scuffed wide.

65 Well anything could happen now. Chelsea come forward again but concede a goal-kick. Joe Cole was not happy with the decision and runs over to the referee's assistant to complain.

An incredible turn of events. Drogba tried to clear a Heitinga free-kick but his header slammed into the back of a jumping Saha, and the ball rebounded off the Frenchman and looped into the net. Wow, it's 3-3!

62 GOAL - SAHA!!

60 Everton will do well to get another equaliser now. Chelsea are on top and seem to be cruising.

Ivanovic crossed from the right and Dorgba was there to meet it on the volley from about six yards out. Chelsea back in front and deservedly so.

58 GOAL - DROGBA!!

55 Fellaini gets his head to a cross from Jack Rodwell. The ball bounces wide though.

53 Heitinga does well to take the ball off Drogba, who was racing towards goal.

52 The pressure continues as Baines stretches to clear a cross and Everton manage to clear it from the resulting corner.

51 Chelsea certainly having the better of it at the start of the second half. Joe Cole's volley is blocked an it's eventually a goal-kick.

49 Ballack has a crack from about 30 yards but it's along the ground and easily blocked.

47 Another Lampard free-kick is directed towards goal by Ivanovic. But the header is tame and Howard collects.

46 Terry gets on the end of a Lampard free-kick but his header is wide of the post.

45 Kick-off! The second half is underway.

Arsenal fans also taking an interest! Nadine the Gunner thinks it will end up 4-3 to Carlo Ancelott's side, although she, like many others, did not predict so many goals before the match.

It seems that a few United fans are also following this game before their own match later on. Bhavin says: "Hope Everton can press forward and prove that Chelsea can crumble under the pressure......giving Utd the chance to take advantage later on!"

Dennis thinks that there will only be one more goal, with Yakubu giving Everton a 3-2 win.

JJ White thinks the goals will continue and Chelsea will win 4-3. Drogba and Lamprd to score the goals for Chelse, he says.

Everton fan Jonathan sends this in: "unfortunately with that amount of possession I cannot see Everton winning this...come the toffees prove me wrong"

How is this one going to end up then? I don't think anyone expected it to be 2-2 at this stage! Get your half-time predicitions in to alex.williams@bskyb.com and I'll post a selection.

45+5 And that's it. All square after 45 minutes as Chelsea incredibly concede two goals at home in an action-packed first half.

Fellaini wins a header in the box, Baines battles to win the ball from Terry and it falls to Yakubu, who has a simple finish. Stamford Bridge silenced deep into stoppage time at the end of the first-half.

45+4 GOAL - YAKUBU!!

45+2 A lot of injury time here as Jo was down for quite a while.

45+1 Actually Jo seems as though he really is quite hurt. He's going to have to come off and is replaced by Yakubu.

45 Jo is down again. Saha played a ball into him but the Brazilian opts to go down injured rather than try and pick up the ball! Saha does not look best pleased and neither does Moyes.

44 Drogba sends a dangerous ball in but Howard dives at Anelka's feet and gathers the ball again.

43 Anelka takes a pop from a long way bout. Howard gets behind it and gathers the ball on the second attempt.

41 Saha tries to shoot on the turn but Joe Cole eventually manages to make the clearance.

40 Jo seems to have got over the initial pain and is now signalling that he wants to rejoin the action.

38 Jo seems in quite a bit of pain after colliding with Carvalho. He is on the floor receiving treatment and Everton are on the verge of losing yet another player to injury.

37 It was too close to get over the wall and down, so Lampard smashes it instead and Fellaini manages to block.

36 Heitinga fouls Anelka right on the edge of the box and it's a dangerous free-kick for Chelsea.

34 Everton fan Toniwalia must have been happy with the start but now does not think the Toffees can come back from a goal down.

32 This time Pienaar sends in a free-kick. It looks overhit but Heitinga heads the ball back across goal. Chelsea clear though, even if Drogba managed to boot the ball in Mikel's face along the way.

30 The frenetic start seems to be officially over as Everton are seeing a bit more of the ball again.

29 Baines whips in another good free-kick but it's just ahead of Saha and into the arms of Cech.

27 Neill's back-header goes slightly awry and Howard has to rush across his goal to prevent it from going in. He gets there easily enough in the end though.

25 Everton manage to calm things down a bit by keeping the ball for a couple of minutes. Baines crosses but Saha can't get his header on target and it's a goal-kick.

24 The hosts have been absolutely rampant since they conceded and are still coming forward. Lampard sends a shot into the crowd to end that attack though.

A penalty box scramble follows a corner and the ball eventually falls to Anelka, who lifts his shot into the roof of the net. Chelsea have turned it around already!

22 GOAL - ANELKA!!

20 Drogba almost creates something for himself in the box but Tony Hibbert nips in at the last minute to clear the danger.

19 Chelsea are piling it on now and have a shout for a penalty as Ballack goes down under a challenge from Heitinga. Phil Dowd says the Dutchman got the ball though.

A great move from Chelsea brings them level. Lampard plays a neat first-time pass that send Drogba through and the Ivorian makes no mistake with a cool finish into the corner.

17 GOAL - DROGBA!!

15 Chelsea are on the front-foot a bit more now after all that confusion but it has been a brilliant start from Everton.

Think that will go down as a Cech own goal actually.

Everton take a surprise lead as Leighton Baines whips in a free-kick that Fellaini and Saha both jump for. Saha manages to get a slight touch on the ball but Chelsea captain John Terry deflects it onto the post. It bounces out and hits Cech and bounces in.

11 OWN GOAL - CECH!!

9 Now Saha decides to let go from long-range but it's quite a tame effort and well wide.

7 Jo lets fly from the edge of the area. The shot bounces in front of Cech, gets down well to make a good save. That's the closest either side have come so far.

6 Everton enjoying a nice little spell of possession at the moment, although the Chelsea defence seeming hard to break down.

5 For those thinking Moyes had amazingly started two strikers away from home, it seems as though Jo is dropping off into a deeper role and Saha is the lone front-man.

3 Drogba runs onto a nice ball from Ballack. The striker breaks into the box but his shot is pulled wide of the far post.

1 Scott thinks Chelsea will win this one easily with Lampard and Drogba both getting two in a 4-0 win.

0 Kick-off! The match is underway

Everton regular Stewart in Spain is not feeling too confident today. He thinks Chelsea will win 3-1, with Louis Saha grabbing the Toffees' goal.

The two sides are in the tunnel preparing to walk out on the pitch. Everton, as always, provide a moment of light comedy when they appear in their black and pink away kit.

By the way, it seems as though Lucas Neill and John Heitinga will play in Everton's injury-hit centre of defence today.

If you fancy a flutter, Chelsea are unsurprisingly massive odds-on favourites for this one. The hosts are 1/4 while Everton are rank outsiders at 12/1 and a draw is available for 9/2 at SkyBet.

The referee for today's clash is Phil Dowd from Staffordshire.

Everton, meanwhile, are still looking for a way to kick-start their stuttering season. A come-from-behind draw against Spurs added to qualification from the group stages of the Europa League means that it is not all doom and gloom for David Moyes' side, but they will find it tough to get a result today. If anyone has any views or predictions send them in to alex.williams@bskyb.com and I'll post a selection.

So, Chelsea are hoping for a return to winning ways when they host the Toffees at Stamford Bridge. Carlo Ancelotti's side are still in prime position at the top of the Premier League but have faltered slightly in their last three matches. A penalty shoot-out loss to Blackburn in the Carling Cup was followed by a dramatic loss to Manchester City and a midweek draw with Apoel. The Blues have won every home league match this season though so are unlikely to be short of confidence.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Neill, Heitinga, Baines, Rodwell, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov, Jo, Saha, Pienaar. Subs: Nash, Yakubu, Coleman, Duffy, Agard, Akpan, Mustafi.

The teams are in. Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Mikel, Ballack, Lampard, Joe Cole, Anelka, Drogba. Subs: Hilario, Malouda, Zhirkov, Paulo Ferreira, Matic, Belletti, Borini.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Chelsea v Everton. Team news will follow shortly...
